I'd like to hit this guy on a gut level.

Saw Woody Allen's Stardust Memories today at the Beverly Theater. A b&w gordon willis jobby. The Book calls it "daring yet rambling" and gives is 2 and a half stars. I thought it was amazing and daring and rambling. It kicks Woody Allen to the top of my favorite directors list. Let it ramble. It's autobiographical, even more so than usual, and I don't think Woody Allen knows exactly where he is going so why should the film? It can't really compete in the same category as perfectly structured stories like Manhattan and Hannah but it does compete with these and any other piece of art on a gut level. Add Woody Allen to the list of overrated artists alongside Bach and Bergman.
