Many may wonder why this list is a top 9 and not the traditional top 10 and why the entries are unnumbered. Others may notice that a certain film called Blood Loss (alternately titled Day of Vengeance) is not included on this list. Therein lies the answer to the first two queries. I deliberately left an open space for Blood Loss on the list because, despite the fact that Blood Loss is perhaps the most seminal debut feature since Dark Star, I am too modest to include it on my own top 10 list. I thus left the list unnumbered so that each reader can decide for themselves where in the order to place Blood Loss.
