"Holy bad movies, Darkman."

So says Robin (Frances McDormand), picking up a can of fun-repellent Darkspray. Sam Raimi's Spiderman prequel lacks the cable-cam swooping joy due to its depressing star Liam Neeson (preparing for his role in Schindler's List). If only the roles of Mr. Neeson (Darkman) and Bruce Campbell (Final Shemp) had been switched. As usual Ted Raimi is a standout at being ridiculous.

Highlights you may remember:
John Landis and Jenny Agutter sharing the Doc-Oc-escapes hospital scene.
Ridiculous titles/montages by Pablo Ferro, famed title designer for Dr. Strangelove.
Bill Pope in his feature film debut.
Carrie Hall, up and coming actress, gets bit part in Coen Brothers film and Sam Raimi film. Unfortunately those films are Crimewave and Darkman. Career ends shortly thereafter.

Darkman, on HDDVD, buy it now and get a free Pogo Ball.
